Q . When is the race?

A . The Yuengling Gold Rush 5k will now be a virtual event due to COVID-19.

Q . Why has the 2020 Yuengling Gold Rush 5k gone virtual?

A . On March 15, 2020, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommended that all gatherings and events larger than 50 people be cancelled for the forseeable future. In accordance with this recommendation, and with deep frustration and regret we will be unable to hold the 2020 Yuengling Gold Rush 5k in its original form. With an event our size, we are simply unable to practice the proper safe social distancing to keep COVID-19 coronavirus at bay.

Q. Can I get a refund?

A. If you have ever organized a race before (or a wedding, birthday party, any event), you'll know that a lot of items need to be ordered and paid for well in advance. Those items are paid for by race registrations. As you can imagine, with a just about a month before the race, we have ordered and paid for all items, which is money we won't get back. On top of that, the registration sites used by events charge an additional fee to the races when they refund a participant, meaning that the race loses even more than just the registration fee. (One of the main reasons races have a no refund policy.) Also, insurance companies do not provide cancelation insurance for pandemics, currently, only for weather or natural disaster situations.

With all this in mind, we cannot refund money that has already been spent, so, currently, full refunds are not available.

Q. I'm registered for the 2020 Yuengling Gold Rush 5k.  What should I do to ensure that my race swag gets shipped to the correct address?
      
  • To update your entry go to our race registration site and sign into your RunSignup account (it would have been created when you registered for the event so look for your confirmation email).
  •  Click manage registration next to your Yuengling Gold Rush 5K registration. 
  •  Click on the SHIPPING tab. Enter your preferred shipping address.

Q . How do I post the results of my virtual race?

Q . What time does the race start?

A. The run/walk will begin promptly at 9am.

 

Q . Where does the race start and finish?

A . The race will start and finish at North Shore Riverfront Park.

Q . How much does the race cost?

A. Race registration pricing begins at $42 plus an online processing fee. The price will increase to $47 on April 1, 2020 and again to $52 on June 1, 2020.  

Q . Can I run with a stroller or dog?

A . No, we love your kids and dogs too but our insurance policy will not allow any participants to run or walk with strollers or animals.

Q . Who can participate in the race?

A . Runners and walkers of all levels can participate in the race. The event is perfect for running your fastest 5k or for those who are more interested in taking it easy and enjoying the brews.

 

Q . Will the race be timed?

A . Yes! The race will be professionally timed with the most advanced timing technology available. Timing to be completed by Runner's High Timing. 

 

Q. Can someone else pickup my race packet for me at packet pickup?

A. Yes! We are here to make your life easier. Someone else make pickup your packet for you as long as they are able to show some form of verification to our staff.

Accepted Items:

-Email authorizing designated person to pickup your packet

-Copy of email containing bib number (sent to all registered participants the week of the race)

-Copy of Driver's License

 

Q . Can I transfer my race registration to another person?

A . Yes, you may transfer your bib to another runner. The deadline for all transfers is May 22, 2020 at midnight. No transfers will be processed after this date, at packet pickup, or on race day. No exceptions. All transfers are processed online and a $10.00 processing fee will be applied.  

The registered participant will need to log into their profile on RunSignUp and start the process of transferring the bib to a friend or family member.

One this process has been initiated you will send them this link that contains step by step instructions on how to exchange the bib:
Exchange of funds will need to be completed outside of RunSignUp and between the transferee and the registered runner.

 

Q . Will there be prizes awarded to the winners?

A . Yes, the top 3 overall males and females will receive fantastic Yuengling prizes! The top 3 male and female age group winners will also be recognized.

*In accordance with USATF standards, overall awards will be based on gun time only. Age group awards will be awarded based on chip time.

Q . What do I get for participating?

A . In addition to a well-organized event and volunteer support along the course, all participants will receive the official race t-shirt, 16oz. can koozie, virtual goodie bag, race bib with timing chip attached, one free Yuengling Golden Pilsner (for all participants 21 years of age+), live entertainment and more!
